Oh Shelly,
I am so sorry this has happened to your family. I am praying for you all. this is a horrible practice and so cruel. Our quick fix society is taking 'unworthy' lives and terminating them 'humanely'. It is murder.

Shelly, if this does not tell it all nothing does! This is EXACTLY what happened in our own family. When we discovered WHAT WAS TRULY happening, all of the sudden WE became CRAZY, SNAKES, TROUBLE MAKERS whatever. I will say that I personally was told to LET MY GRANDMOTHER DIE IN PEACE by HOSPICE personnel as I begged them to hydrate her. LET HER DIE WITH DIGNITY! You who did not know her, you who did not love her, you who knew what YOU were doing, you who have been trained to HELP and SAVE others...WHERE did YOU come to the point in your career where YOU decided that KILLING was right and LIVING was wrong? When did YOU make the decision to go against ALL YOUR ETHICS, MORALS and OWN HELP CARE BASE...HOW DO YOU JUSTIFY WHAT YOU DO... How in GOD's name do YOU sleep? Are you not tortured? Are you not guilty? Could it be that this job does not REQUIRE any REAL health care or nursing skills? YOU most certainly do not have to worry about CODES, life SAVING measures, TEST, PROCEDURES that are truly life saving......YOU are the ANGELS of DEATH...YOUR mission is to lay them down, dose them up and dehydrate them to *(&%#$)%^ I, personally WILL NEVER,EVER shut up..from this day forward I will make it my mission to see that this NEVER happens again. It is unbelievable to think that this practice is going on in the United States today and that your own family members could and did make this choice for a beloved family member. There is no resting, there is no peace there cannot be. Such a tragedy as this will be ADDRESSED and those that are responsible will be held accountable! What in GOD's name were YOU PEOPLE thinking? What did GRANNY ever do to deserve this type of treatment or lack thereof? Did you honestly think that no one would EVER figure this out? There was NOT one condition, illness or disease that COULD HAVE OR WOULD HAVE caused her death. YOU and YOU ALONE are responsible. Lest we not forget the "spiritual and ever so healing services of those great health care workers that eagerly administerd MORPHINE and WITH HELD LIFE SAVING MEASURES! HOW in GOD's name do you justify this and more over HOW DO YOU GET UP EVERY DAY AND REPEAT YOUR HEDIOUS ACTIONS? May GOD have MERCY on your souls. May God have MERCY on the souls of those that made this most HORENDOUS decision and choice! With every choice, rest assurred there WILL ALWAYS be CONSEQUENCES!

Once I had a dream of using my nursing skills in hospice care, but this is evil! I can see looking into your Grandma's face in the picture that she was a beautiful person. I'm so sorry she was taken away from you!

Evil abounds under the sun. First the babies and now the elderly. I had heard rumors of this over the last few years but never believed it - I do now!

This is appalling. Thanks for posting this on your blog. I stumbled upon it browsing knitting blogs.

I have three living grandparents and could someday face the same thing. I pray not, and now that I am aware of this practice maybe I can prevent it.

I'm so sorry about your grandmother. The elderly are near and dear to me. I know it's hard to loose a grandparent, but even worse to think she was taken from you.

Hospice is supposed to comfort the patient and family when death is near, not speed the process. Very sad, very disturbing.
